Sumo

Every November Fukuoka hosts a two week sumo tournament so last year we decided to go. We went for the cheap seats, which cost about 5 pounds. When we found our seats though we found out why they were so cheap - you could just see a tent like structure and some fuzzy things moving around. Luckily for us though our friend worked at the event and was able to tell us, which of the posh seats had not been booked so we sat in them instead.

We enjoyed sumo for about an hour, but after that the novelty of fat men fighting in nappies wore off!

This is the ring where all of the action takes place. Women are not allowed to touch or enter the area in which the sumos fight.

There are different levels of fighters in sumo. Before each grade fights they have a ceremony in which they enter the ring in their skirt things.
